hoooo...sejuk nyer..macam winter pulak. just now while taking the trash out, i noticed that there are patches of frost on the ground. this couldn't be..i am not ready for winter yet...noooooooooo! but it will be here next month. so we'll see. as with how it was in the past, it takes a bit of getting used to the change in temp and weather.
apalah sarah ni...bangun tido jer asked me to go and get her ice cream..ishhh..anyway, the lowest temp for yesterday was in the 30s i think. this morning same thing. 36 degrees. the highest low that it will get for the day would be 43 degrees. i have my winter stuff here, well just the coat jer lah..but sarina's it still at the old house. tomorrow sean will have to go up there and get it.
actually yesterday morning it go to be so cold i turned the heater on..hehe..just for a short while jer lah then the weather started to warm up a bit and it got to be in the low 70s. today pulak it will be in the low 60s. if in Celsius kan..it would be something like between 17-20 degrees for the high temps. as for the low temps it is between 2-3 degrees..something like that lah. well..in some ways perhaps it is getting a good start. sebab last year nyer winter was a mess. but since we do not have any control in weather..we'll see what happens. since bush said that there is no global warming, and we all know how knowledgeable he is..we shall leave it at that :P
i am noticing something here. in some ways i can see that sarina is missing her friends over there kan. apa tak..they have all been together since pre-school. anyway, the past few days i noticed that she has been getting her clothes ready for school. she has been trying to look nice. hmmmmmm..i am wondering if the group of children here are different. hopefully not superficial , in a sense that they look at how she is dressed. she was never very particular about her style. if anything it is me lah kan sebab i want her to look presentable. but of late that is changing. ppl say that this is a good school. so we'll wait and see. i am not sure if i want sarina to change all that much in such a short time. maybe it is a good thing that she is has no friends coming home with her.
as for her being a tween....alamak sri...she is only 8 jer..ehhe..still have a few more years to go..ni have to go into rigorous brainwashing session ni..hahaha. anyway, she wanted to call her friends in town and i said no. you see them at school so let's just make it stay that way. no need to call them. unlike calling naomi or molly.
i ni pun tengah pikir apa nak masak ni..nak makan aper eh..not for the family lah but for me..well, if it is me kena include sarah sebab her taste is the same as mine :) i already have something in mind for sean and sarina..nak buat kuah satay and makan dengan lontong pun macam malas gitu...but nak kena buat jugak lah. two days ago buat kueh pau cina..roasted chicken pau..the filling tastes exactly like the filling that you get from buying the pau kat geylang kan..i pun tak tau lah nama kedai tu..but that is where the first halal paus were found.
anyway, made that and i got the recipe for the dough. it was soft yes..but tak lah segebu those that we bought. i wonder why..is it the flour..recipe calls for cake flour and i used softasilk..the dough was soft and moist except for the underside. it was somewhat dry...maybe too thick agaknyer lah when i crimped the underside...nak kena try lagi sekali ni..and if it turns out the same again..i can chuck the resepi aside lah..hehe.
kak za...how's the weather in westport?..dah ada frost tak? wonder how it's going to be this winter? gas prices are soaring...maybe like you said kak za..kiter pakai blankets berlapis2 jer lah nampak nyer eh..hehehe

Kesian kan ..i mean about missing their frens and stuff.. I can feel for Sarina, becos dat's what my son went thru. Dah ada best fren, kena tinggalkan..bila jumpa balik..mcm dah tak bole click sangat..hopefully dis will make them a very adaptable person.
Being so broke like us...and old with shrinking brains like us..hehehe...(kesian kita yang dah tua2 ni eh..kena kutuk tak pasal2)..winter is going to kill us both. Oil for heater mak oii..mahal nya. Boleh beli tiket kapal terbang pergi balik. Our hays pun dah habis belum terbeli lagi. Buttercup and Rosie aja yang makan this hay sebab dorang struggling to keep themselves warm. And its only Fall. Belum betul2 winter lagi. I told John we must not use the heater unless really we cannot tahan. Kat dalam rumah pakai winter jacket or pakai wool blanket. I love wool!!
Rajin you buat kueh pau eh? I kalau dah kueh pau tu alamat tak buat lah. Leceh gitu kan. I punya orang nak yang senang aja ..maklum dah tua, malas pulak tu. Eh mari datang sini for Thanksgiving lah Rosma! hehehe...buatkan I kueh pau! Bila you nak datang lagi eh..boleh kita ngumpat2 Sri dan Nora! hahaha..

The only time I ever encountered cold weather was during my visit to Istanbul back in 1996. Then, the weather ranged between 10 to -5 degrees Celsius. Tu pun I walked around in short-sleeved tees and jeans. My missus dah kesejukan sampai naik kejong badan. Agaknya I ni cold blooded creature tak =).
You meant those Hara's halal kuih pau eh? Actually the best kuih pau I ever tasted was when I stayed in Toa Payoh. This person who was a music arranger and brother of Elmi Salleh (not sure whether you remember this 70s/80s singer) made it at home and his wife sold it at the factory behind our block. Unfortunately, not long after, Allah lebih sayangkan dia and we lost the chance to have the delicious kuih pau ever again coz his wife does not have the recioe.
bila masuk sini, mata terus ternampak words 'halal paus' kat situ...mati2 ingatkan ada org jual lauk ikan paus halal...rupa2nyer pau...ya Allah...gelihati sorang aku ni...ikan paus sedap tak eh??
wa..sejukk./.sejukkkk...apa lagik...amik lah 'sekapp' anggun tu...eekkekkekek...suka pegang tapi tak reti nak gaya...kat sini pun ada org pakai sekapp gitu...tapi ntah eh...sejuk sebelah mana spore ni sampai ada yg pakai..pesen gaknyer..sejuk2 gitu cuddle2 best eh! sambil minum teh tarik panas makan epok2 sadin..owww..powerr!eee..macam nak pergi sana pulak...!itu pau mmg i suka jugak...halal dim sum i pernah nampak brand dia...sedap eh!..bagus u rajin2 buat..mmg boleh bukak kedai makan betul kalo law sana tak cerewet...pi lah amik lesen kedai makan rosma....
nora..mati kutu..hehehe..mmg betul. that is to me already very very cold. nak kena tunggu sampai november baru boleh turn heater on. i know hopefully pun cam tu jugak lah. maybe more snow this year. at least psychologically we know that it is cold due to the snow..unlike the bleak weather due to no snow but cold like crazy. as for sarina and her friends..yelah..that is so true..but apa nak buat. i can tell that she is trying to be like the rest of the girls in her class, judging by the sudden change in interests..hehe
kak za...ah ah..i ni pun umur dah nak masuk 40 in a few years time..can feel my bones aching lah..hahahha.. brain shrinking , i think is already happening..hahha. sean is the same way..tak nak turn the heater on just yet. this small house just by using the water heater our gas bill is like $80 per month..boleh gitu..teruk seh gas prices. ni lah nak beli more fleece blanket. i suka fleece yang lembut nyer..i tak suka yang pakai japs jer lepas tu the material cam kesat. rajin pun bukan apa..tekak nak makan jugak lah katakan..hahaha. pergi sana...hehe..nanti nengok kalender...kiter leh lah pot pet pot pet memanjang eh..hahaha
yara..huwaaaaaa...you ni superman eh..wahhh....most gusy are like that i think. i yang berlapis2 baju..sean can just put on a long sleeve and shorts dah..orait lah tu dia. sarah is like that too. ah ah..those kue pau..lembut nyer. elmi salleh, yep.nng nama very familiar..tu lah..balik nanti i ingat nak belajar cara buat kueh pau from someone..just for that class jer..:)
alah leha...saper yang makan ikan paus...hahahaaha...kueh pau lerrr... eh you nak tak gi cooking class dengan i when i balik sana ah?..i recce2 dulu then see if i can someone to teach me how to make the dough..hehe. best jugak kalau leh buat camtu eh :) itu skap yang you kasi..sarina first kopek lah..she really likes it..so pepagi gi sekolah she will have her jacket on and the skap wrapped around her neck gitu :) ni mana nak cari halal dim sum kat sini ah?...hehehehe
Kak Rosma! Kat sini pun cuaca dah 1 digit in certain places. Mas nak keluar take Luke for jalan-jalan pun kena pikir dua tiga kali sebab si Luke masih selsema... Sejuk betul sampai kena pakai gloves bila keluar rumah! Temperature between 9-12 degrees Celcius... Maybe not as cold as kat sana kan? Nampak gaya kena beli coat baru since my coat dah tak muat lagi... hee hee!!! Just an excuse to spend money! :D
cooking class kat sini?nak! nak!...bila u mai sini..kita gi carik kelas sesama...i tgk2 kat sini dulu ada org bleh ajar tak...u nak carik org ajar kue pau jer ke??
alah..tau i beli lebih2 skap tu..kasi anak beranak pakai..insya'llah ok i carik cam tu lagik..belik kat IMM tu...lembut arrr..
