gun toting NRA member...NOT!

hehehe...okay, semalam kan we ended up hiking along this new trail that we found in salina. last night i felt the aches and pains from that hike. the trail was on a levee and it follows the smoky hills river. there were some nice pictures that i could have taken..if only i had brought the camera. didn't think that we'd be walking that far..but we did. the weather was nice and warm. it was about 60 degrees.

i did however get some pictures of us at the shooting range..yup..you read it right. shooting range..see, last friday, sean and i went and got our first hand gun. aha..again you read it right. now i am not a fan of hand guns..but sean said that we need it for our hikes. you never know what you might come across anyway. he saw a mountain lion loping across the highway, and a doctor here had said that he had seen it too. he had also seen what this animal could do to a cow...tore it's throat out. sean also said that it is also for protection when we go camping. as for the home..well, i had always thought that a baseball bat would be a handy weapon :)

anyway, saturday morning, sean said that he wanted to take a look at the local shooting range and didn't see anyone. after a long while, he came home and what do you know..he had been shooting. well, since he has taken the gun on it's maiden shooting session, i figured might as well get it out of the way..so the whole family went there.

sean taught sarina and i how to handle the gun safely. he showed sarina how to disarm it too. i am all for it since i figured that, who knows, if sarina and her friends should come across a tossed gun someday..this being america and all, at least if she found it, she knows how to handle it safely. so we went over that on friday evening and on saturday..i had my first shooting lesson. i thought that it was going to be loud and noisy..on the contrary..since ours is just a .22 calibre..it is a small one. all it makes is this loud popping sound ..like a fire cracker..now a bigger caliber, would mean a bigger boom and then you will need the ear muffs..or plugs. it was fun..but frustrating at the same time..just because tyring to find the correct aiming posture is really not that easy.

sarah decided that she didn't want to be a part of the shooting posse..so she sat in the car happily. we shot like a couple hundred rounds and i finally said that i have had enough and would like to go to salina..we didn't go to wichita after all..maybe in a couple of weeks, insyallah...:) also, a pick up truck rolled into the parking lot. these were serious hunters..you can tell because they had their rifle bags with them...and they have all these gadgets..and here we were with our rinky dink firearm..hahahahahha.... anyway, there ye go...our ted nugent family moment..hahahahahahha...

the difference in size...ours is on the right..while the one on the left was from a .44 magnum that we found on the ground..hehe.
