kfc :) kansas fried chicken.. and kcc...kansas chili crab ..heheh

well, this weekend takder gi memana. dok rumah jer. sean ada kursus kan...so just stay at home with the girls. apa yang i buat pun i dah tak ingat..which means that perhaps, i was not doing anything productive eh..hahaha. anyway, this was tonights menu :) semalam cakap kat sean..dah lama i tak buat ayam goreng bertepung ala KFC..hehe...so here it is..kansas fried chicken :) yang lauk kat bawah tu..well, that was before puasa lah..tekak i nak makan chili crab..beli 4 ekor..i bedal sorang :) yang lain seme tak nak makan....sebab leceh..yang sarah pulak..tak nak makan tapi nak pegang2 buat main..kena hepp dengan i..hahahhaa.



the recipe for the chicken kan..senang jer...i pakai tepung kentucky yang i beli online..hahaha. i suka that seasoned flour. nak buat sendiri mmg boleh..pernah buat pun, but i like the lighter but crispy coating when you use ready made seasoned flourlah. nak kasi extra garing kan, you need to coat the dried cut up chicken dulu with a bit of the flour..then baru you masuk kan the beaten egg white..gaul rata then baru coat individually and fry it. i also marinate the meat a bit with salt and pepper for about an hour or so :) tapi siap ah..minyak all over the place when you fry this..hahahaha. tapi sedap makan neyr pasal kan..itu minyak seme boleh lap later2 :)




this is the flaky biscuits...senang nak buat dia. less then 5 minutes, the dough dah siap..twenty minutes later, dah masak dah. kat sana ada popeye kan..kat sini popeye tak leh makan lah..hahaha. terpaksa buat sendiri..pair it with the country gravy like the above nyer gambar. the recipe for this biscuits:

2 cups flour
1 stick ( 1/2 cup cold butter)
1 tsp salt
1 tbs baking powder
3/4 cup milk

directions:
mix the dry ingredients together. then crumble the butter into the flour mixture and add the milk. use the handle of a wooden spoon to mix it all up, until it forms a ball...uli dengan lembut nyer eh..sebab kalau ganas sangat, this will be very hard. add a bit more milk kalau ada stray tepung yang tak melekap dengan the ball..the dough will be soft. then you roll it out to about 1/2 inch or an inch thickness and terap . i just use free hand sometimes. bulat2 kan and then flattened it. anyway, after that, you put it in a 400 degree oven and bake for like 15-20 minutes, until golden brown. dah jadi..make sure oven pre-heat dulu :) dah jadi biscuits :) you can add cheese to this to make cheesy biscuits too :)




i ni ketam minat jugak lah..but mmg jarang makan. that day when i bought this kan..it was after reading this small cookbook lah. teringin pulak nak makan chilli crab like yang kat seafood restaurant kat sana too. resepi nampak simple jer :) so apa lagi..like i said, after years of observing that i am the only one eating this kan, i bought 4 small crabs and made this all for myself. finished it all in one sitting..hahaha. sapa tau yang tukang tengok i makan..sarah lerr..like i said, dia tak nak makan but instead wanted to just touch and play with the crabs :)



the is penang fried kway teow..okaylah, i used extra chillies :) again..i nyer hobby mmg suka baca buku masak2. itu kira bahan bacaan sebelum tido :) unless if there is a new book that is so good..baru i tak baca buku masak lah :) so since i ada kway teow kat dalam fridge..i made this for myself jugak. the girls tak minat kway toew..i think it is a textural thing. :) this one, i think kalau taruk oyster sauce will taste better. maklumlah, resepi calls for fresh prawns..i guess to lend the sweetness..i pulak mmg tak minat fresh prawn unless it is tempura nyer style..that i can eat many2..hahaha



suka i tengok nenas ni. i tengok kat walmart lawa..and it was like $2.50 for each. and these are big pineapples too..so beli lah dua biji. ingatkan nak buat air nenas lah..dah lama i tak minum air nenas. macam rindu pulak..but i pernah try buat, but tak rasa macam kat kedai. until just now..calling2 kak chom and she taught me how to make it..insyallah besok nak try buat lah :)


i bet kat sana dah sibuk dengan persiapan hari raya kan. mana shopping for karpet..mana pakcik karpet jual minyak kat anak dara sunti..hahahahahahhaha. sumi..i know the story..hahahahahahha. anyway, to all selamat menunaikan ibadah puasa..salah silap mintak mahap eh :)

cik sri..ni dia resepi seasoned fries eh :)

2 1/2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon garlic salt ( ni takder pun takper..pakai jer garlic powder kalau you ada)
1 teaspoon onion salt ( same goes for this one..pakai jer onion powder)
1 teaspoon salt ( kalau tak pakai the salts above..kena increase the amt of salt sikit lah yer..maybe like 1 1/2 to 2 tsp)
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 cup water, or as needed
1 cup vegetable oil for frying


Slice potatoes into French fries, and place into cold water so they won't turn brown while you prepare the oil.

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. While the oil is heating, sift the flour, garlic salt, onion salt, (regular) salt, and paprika into a large bowl. Gradually stir in enough water so that the mixture can be drizzled from a spoon.

Dip potato slices into the batter one at a time, and place in the hot oil so they are not touching at first. The fries must be placed into the skillet one at a time, or they will clump together. Fry until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Ohhh tengok itu ketam, senyum aje kena ambik gambar *heehee* Looks very delish! Lucky u, dapat makan semua tu ketam sorang2. hahaha! Tak kepingin ke your dotters?

Itu kfc tiap raya kena buat. tapi pakai wings aje lah and drumstick. pakai tepong resipi sendiri tapi kengkadang terlebih masin *hahahaa* bukan pasal tukang masak nak kawin, tapi kelam kabut nyer kerja *hehee* goreng banyak2 lepas tu campak kat dalam oven at low temp. This year maybe just going to goreng chicken nuggets and wedges dah siap nyer - supplier dah ada, so senang sikit kerja.

Tu biscuits i nak try - dulu pernah try but was like 10 yrs ago. So nak try buat lagi. Thanks for the recipe!! :D

OMG! I love crab lah akak! Ingat nak pesan dekat akak cleaner tu esok. Anak dia nelayan modern... so boleh dapat 1kg RM18... tapi dah order udang 1kg RM37... B size... hmm!

Wow...ketam renjong you beli? Kat sini tak ada ketam macam tuh. Yang ada ketam batu!! Very strange looking, but big and fat lah. Puas makan. Too bad at the Westport Habour tak jual ketam lagi sebab they said crabs die easily. Pekak badak lah dorang tu. I love that biscuits, kadang2 I went to KFC just to buy the wedges, mashed potatoes and biscuits. Delicious with cheese or butter. But my recipe pakai butter milk. Kalau I tau boleh pakai milk, tak yah beli butter milk! Thanks for the recipe. I will try that biscuits soon.

mags..mmg lucky, but sometimes boring jugaklah..kalau makan reramai kan syiok :) i kalau kat sana raya the chicken i love goreng rempah..sedap. and then one of my SIL ajar goreng pakai belacan..pun sedap :) i cannot forget cooking during raya..macam nak patah pinggang sehhh..mana nak layan tetamu..mana nak masak..mana nak kena cuci pinggan mangkuk..that's why first day..tak leh pakai baju lawa2 lah..hahahah :) i don't care much for the biscuits..sean yang suka makan :) i kalau orang suka makan..i suka buat mmg :)


oh cim sri wan kembang..hehe..teringat pulak this name. citer malang si malim from gila2 :) anyway, i hope you like the recipe :) we all love seasoned fries over here..lupa pulak nak cakap..you twice fry the fries..first frying..biar lembab2...then bila dah sejuk..fry again..then it will be soft in the center but crispy outside :) tepung kobe i tak pernah try lah..but gerenti sedap kan :) kepiting ni once in a blue blue moon baru i beli :)

kak za..i think the crab that you're talking about is called dungeness crab. i pernah beli that one and isi dia very very nice and sweet. cuma kat sini, i can only find it at kansas city lah..itu pun kalau lambat habis tak dapat. i think nanti i kat sana..kita beli ketam and buat the sambal air asam dia nak..kita meratah ketam..hehehe..kalau ada sotong kita buat sotong bakar..sisah air asam jugak..yumms! oh yes..this biscuits..ada dua style lah kira..the buttermilk biscuits yang pakai buttermilk and this plain one :)

lol@ hepp sarah. remind me of my mum pulak..i pun dulu kena hepp banyak kali :P *shh* ! Anyway, isnt it a blessing in disguise when they do not like something u can sental all by yrself. hahhaa !

i have yet to have such a day here, coz my DH suka all things spicy and always wants to try all things new other than his boring american food.

Anyway thanks for the biscuit recipe. My hubby practically glared at me when i told him we have popeye's in Singapore. And he was like waaaaaaaaaat..and all this time i came u never brought me there. My only chance to eat halal popeye. *lallaallaaaa* lol !

Btw Kak rosma yr KFC spread looks good. I love their biscuits, alhamdullilah here we have two halal outlets. If not i will surely cry too..kfc is the only fastfood i like occasionally. Kalau this two tutup kedai, bolehla i pinjam yr recipe.

And the nenas reminded me of briyani, i miss eating salad nenas. yumz!

fir..you are so right..hahha. but boring jugak lah makan sorang2 :) boring2 pun habis jugak eh i makan..hahhaa.

oh, well sean likes crab but he malas nak makan sebab leceh and he is so particular about his teeth..like certain things he will not bite because he said that it is not good for the enamel..me and my girls...kita main bedal jer..kalau ada problem..it is his..hahaha.

for me sean is not into fast food. he doesn't care much for them. but he did say that the last time he was there, he comoplained that i tak bawak dia jalan2..hehehe. i know you are so luchy to have halal kfc..sarah cannot wait for me to cut the pineapple up..dah mintak dua tiga hari dah..insyallah today i will let her have some :)

Wah kansas fried chicken is looking finger lickin gd!Dan makes his own mix too from the very first time I started craving for kfc here so we've been having homemade ones since then but i still preferkfcs lah so bila balik i want to makan puas puas,that and burger king,honestly i dont miss mc donalds much so yeah i think i can live without that.

anyways cakap pasal air nenas teringat masa kecik kecik ikut my arwah nenek gi pasar,tolong angkat barang,mesti dapat air nenas satu paket for upah..those were the days.

you suka or have ever tried making cincau tak?

zee :) well, it's that till we get back to singapore and eat KFC..yummsss! love the spicy chicken tau. i know..i too can't wait to go back and fill my tummy with all the foods that i am craving right now. yes..i remmeber going to the market and you buy one packet costs only 20 cents jer kan..foooohh..punyalah sedap :) nope..tak pernah buat cincau kat sini..i cannot find the jelly lah..i mean the ones that i like the flavour .
