more pics and resepi for popiah basah :)

first of all..mintak maaf lah sesangat for not putting up the recipes earlier. too busy running around..hehe. tak lah busy mana..but kalau weekend kan..mmg computer ni i takder chan lah nak pakai lelama. this weekend pulak..i gi visit my in laws. dah lama tak jumpa diorang..kesian pulak. nak nak when they had bought clothes for the girls. insyallah some weekend nak jugak tido sana lah. my mil dah tanyer..bila nak tido sana lagi :) told her ..hopefully lepas bulan puasa lah. nak bangun sahur leceh sikit kan rumah orang.



another puffball that we found on friday. tengah driving down our street, sarah said she saw puffball under the small tree. sanggup seh sean patah balik and true enough..catty corner from our place, i saw this huge puffball there. apa lagi..amik and balik jer from salina..i pun terus fry it with salt , pepper and olive oil :)


dah lama tekak nak minum air nenas..but pernah buat , tapi rasa tak berapa sedap. then last week tepon kak chom, baru i tau how to do it. so apa lagi..for the past few days..air nenas lah jadi air minuman i :)


anyway, here are the biskut hazelnut rossettes yang tak macam rossettes. rasa dia macam apa tau shortbread. hazelnut nyer lah..this was the first batch yang tak pakai vanilla extract. the second one that i made today i taruk vanilla sikit and it tastes even better.


ni dia kuih dia. it is called rosettes sebab they pipe it into the shape kan..i pulak..alah..juat put it in like that lah.

the resepi for this :
250 gm butter
1/3 cup sugar
1 2/3 cup flour
60 gm hazelnut kisar halus
1 tsp vanilla extract

12 0z choco chips ( i use semi sweet, but i think, half semi and half bitter sweet tastes even better )
1/2 tbs vegetable shortening

directions:
cream butter and sugar..then add the vanilla and hazelnut kisar. last baru taruk tepung. now you can put it in a bag and pipe in into baking cups. or kalau nak ikut i..juat take a bit and dump it into the cups.

to make the choco topping, melt the chocolate with the shortening in a double boiler. then top the cookies and sprinkle a bit with coloured sprinkles..kalau suka :) then juat let the chocolate cool down sampai dia keras.



again most ppl will just put chocolate chips on top as deco..but i thought..kalau buat camni ..lagi sedap..hehehe. just an excuse to top stuff with chocolate :)



ni pulak, is texas patty melt..hehe..but i tak pakai patty lah..i just sliced some beef steaks instead. it is called texas ..sebab the bread yang i pakai, is called texas toast. it is a thicker cut of bread.


this one..also very very simple. for the beef..just panas kan a bit of oil, slice onions and a bit of garlic..then saute. then add the beef and salt and pepper..or whatever seasonings that you like. put a slice or two of cheese on the bread and top it with the meat.



then..you toast it on the griddle sampai the cheese melt..low heat lah..takut pulak nanti hangus roti kalau api besar..haha..ni kira dah pernah experience burnt toast lah ni..hahaha



and voila..dah jadi..yang suka saper tau..sean and sarina..i think sarah and i had our asam pedas with rice for buka :)


and ni dia..resepi popiah basah. i got this from resepi diana lah. she has several..but this one is really really good :)






POPIA BASAH DAN SOS

Bahan untuk Kulit Popia
150 gram tepung gandum
1 sudu teh tepung ubi kayu/arrowroot
400 ml water
2 biji telur Gred A, dipukul
½ sudu besar minyak
sedikit garam

Bahan untuk Inti
60 ml minyak
8 ulas bawang putih, ditumbuk
2 sudu besar taucu
300 gram udang, dibersihkan
2 kg sengkuang, dihiris halus
2 sudu besar kicap cair
1 sudu teh kicap pekat
2 sudu besar gula
sedikit garam
2 liter air
110 gram tahu, dihiris memanjang & digoreng

Bahan Sampingan
20-30 helai daun salad, dibuang batang tengah
140 gram taugeh, dibuang ekor & dicelur
200 gram isi ketam, jika suka
100 gram bawang merah, digoreng
100 gram kacang tanah, digoreng & ditumbuk
1 biji timun, dihiris dan dipotong halus
4 ulas bawang putih, ditumbuk
3 camb cili merah, ditumbuk
3 tangkai daun ketumbar
1 biji telur, dibuat dadar dan dihiris nipis

Bahan Sos
200 gram tepung gandum
200 gram gula melaka, dihancurkan
330 ml air
sedikit garam
2 sudu teh gula pasir
1 sudu teh kicap pekat

Cara untuk Kulit Popia
1. Menggunakan blender, blend kesemua bahan sehingga ia sebati dan tidak bergentel.
2. Kemudian perap adunan dalam peti sejuk selama 4 jam.
3. Lengser kuali leper non-stick dengan sedikit minyak.
4. Buatlah dadar yg nipis selebar 23 cm kemudian ketepikan. Untuk mengekalkan kelembapan boleh tutup dengan tuala lembab

Cara untuk Inti
1. Panaskan minyak, tumis bawang putih hingga naik bau. Masukkan taucu dan udang, kacau hingga ia berubah warna.
2. Masukkan sengkuang, kacau 3 min. Masukkan kicap cair, kicap pekat, garam dan gula. Tuangkan air, masak hingga mendidih. Masak hingga kuahnya tinggal sedikit.
3. Masukkan pula tahu, gaul rata. Angkat dan biarkan sejuk.

Cara untuk Sos
1. Sanggar tanpa minyak tepung sehingga ia keemasan. Ayak kedalam mangkuk dan biarkan ia sejuk seketika.
2. Satukan kesemua bahan lain dan masak sehingga gula larut.
3. Kemdian tuang sos kedalam tepung sambil dikacau tanpa henti agar sosnya tidak bergentel.

Cara menyediakan Popia Basah
1. Ambil sekeping kulit popia dan letak diatas pinggan besar.
2. Letakkan daun salad, diikuti dengan sos, cili merah (bawang putih dan cili merah yang ditumbuk) dan inti sengkuang.
3. Letak juga timun, taugeh, isi ketam, daun ketumbar, hirisan telur dadar, bawang goreng dan kacang tumbuk.
4. Gulung dengan kemas dan potong 4 sebelum dihidangkan.

Nak bikin kulit popiah pakai telur grade A? My telors what grade pong I tak tau aarr!! Nak kena tanya boss. Tengok gambar makanan boleh menghayalkan eh? I ni satu hari suntok tengok blog masakan orang! Pastu berangan sendiri..hehehe...

kak za..sean nyer favourite tu. i pun suka buat jugak sebab it is so simple to make..tak banyak kerenah..haha. tak macam food that i want to eat lah. entah eh..i main bedal jer telur yang kat dalam esbob yang dah nak masuk seminggu lebih..hahahhaa. samalah..i nyer kerja surf food blog lepas tu berangan. samalah kita ni kak za..hahahahah.

sri..entah kenapa pulak..mmg mood tengah nak buat all chocolate nyer cookies..heheheh. sajer2 cuba buat :) the beef mmg sri..senang resepi dia. i bet the kids will like it too insyallah :)

Itu puffball betul2 looks like puff balls!! But very alien to me... How big is it? From the pic, it looks like it can feed the whole family :D

Thanks for the recipes. One day bila I rajin I'll give it a try... I think after Raya, I'll be taking leave from baking/cooking for a couple of months. The last 3 days has been all about cookies, sampai naik jelak *hehehe* Will upload pix in a few. No appetite for food anymore. Just want to drink drink drink. Ohhh btw, your melt looks wonderful - I love sandwiches - coz tired of rice n noodles oredi lah :P

Air nenas adalah air batu nostalgic, mesti nak beli kat kedai airbatu bila lepas balik sekolah. Tak buat air batu mehsia?.

Thanks for the popiah basah nya recipe I shall share them with my mom and aunts pasal dia orang pun favourite tapi kat sg dont think they ever make their own lah...tts why I was telling my mom duduk jauh jauh has its own benefits too,you learn how to do things you normally would just buy..

This might sound totally stupid but how do you know if its poisonous or what,those wild shrooms that you pick I mean...

Oh, tak perasan pulak akak since akak mentioned onion, garlic, oil and salt & pepper... yang mana satu puffball tuh? Nampak cheese, beef, onion and bread jek hehe.

mags...yup..hence the name :) and the inside is solid so it does look like a ball when you cut them up :) this one has the diameter of about 4 inches across. i pun..after this weekend..i am done baking for a couple of mths lah at least :) one down and one more event to go and that's it. and i hear ya on the jelakness..hehe. i think i am all chocolate out :) i still love noodles though :)

sl..kalau you dekat dah mmg i hantar sepiring for you :) suruh sarina naik basikal..hehe. ingat jugak nak buat air batu mesia :) but takder the plastic lah kat sini.

zee..that melt is really simple :) i suka buat this kinda thing for sean when i am lazy to cook complicated stuff..hahah. actually maybe you can but it could be a bit soggy lah, that's the only thing..or use less cheese and less meat :) you are right on the money zee..reason why i make all this thing is because cannot get it over here and since tekak nak makan sangat kan..terpaksalah buat..hahaha. as for the mushrooms, i bought two books for reference. the audobon mushroom book for north america as well as mushrooms that you can find in kansas. they are very informative :)

nora..i buat pun sebab i ada time :) maklumlah, raya kat sini..i tak payah kemas2 rumah..cuci langsir..hahaha. no need to cook anything..sebab no one will visit :) so that's why got time to bake..hehe. you are so right..anything that has got to do with texas is big :)

faisal, time akak amik gambar ni..i tak pakai the mushrooms :) the next day nyer batch baru akak taruk kat dalam sean nyer melt. and the ones below..akak taruk kat dia nyer paninis :) heheheh...gambar melt taken on thursday..gambar shroom on friday, so that's why tak nampak :)

smoga akk sihat2 hendaknya bersama sarah, serina dan hubby..:) arrrgghhh tidak, setiap kali masuk blog akk mesti kecur air liur tengko masakan akk tu,huhuu...padahal semalam baru minum air nenas tu, tapi nmpak akk punye menyelerakan,hehe..kak, sty nak amik resepi akk ni ye..nak suh mak try,hehe...:) kak, bila nak pindah tepi umh sy?hahahahahaa...*kidding..ramadhan dah nak abis, smoga semua amalan kita diterima olehNya,amin.
